Matt, the chemist, swung by Nine Lights Surfboards today to demo Resin-X.
.
.
He also had some of what can probably best be described as 'direct-to-wood tints' that he airbrushed onto the balsa bottom of a Nine Lights board before any glassing. It's pictured below after lamination with Resin-X (pre hot coat).

Matt to the left, and stoked Nine Lights shaper Jeff Beck hidden behind his brother Peder on the right.
.
I'm really lookin' forward to riding a Resin-X glassed Nine Lights board soon.

lookin turbo!
"de flame, de flame"!!!
Oh man, sign me up. I've been waiting for Matt to hit up a good compsand shaper. That's like peanut butter and Jelly. From what I've ridden, resin-x wise, you're in for some good times.
the resin-x + compsand combo definitely makes a ton of theoretical sense. i've got a nine lights in the works that's gonna get x'd!
Is Jeff doing the whole process in Resin-X, or is he just laminating the outside. I think to maximize the properties, the whole board, including the vacuum process, should be done with Resin-x. It will be neat to see and hear the results. Bring it down to the AB3 in March, especially in the 5'7 to 5'8 range and I'm pretty sure people will be freaking over it. G
yep, the full on X-orcism from vac to lam! the one he's making for me know is 5'4", but who know what others he might have ready by March. thanks for your ongoing positive input and enthusiasm. definitely planning on AB3. look forward to meeting you there.
