beauty mate!

thanks, Dr!

somethin' about seeing children excited at the waters edge that puts into perspective just how magic the beach is even without surfing.

#6 and #8 OUTSTANDING! That child is very gifted to hover that way.
I think I've heard about her before?

thanks, Freeride. stoked to finally cross paths with you too.

thanks, Jet... yeah... the mythical Phoenix sometimes takes form of a young girl? electrically charged daughter of wild fire and red wind?

sad is right, Pushing. Best wishes for all those effected by the fires, shaper Dave Johnson included.

yeah, Danimal. found a sandbar to myself and just a few others in the general vicinity.

thanks, JB. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is what i referenced to a friend while out in the water. Just had the thought of "Fahrenheit 451"... imagining that smoke being from a giant bon fire of books.

thanks, T.Wizzle. dig the Light Blue Series you just posted!

RT, I paddled out this past weekend too and was really blown away by the colors in the afternoon. You captured it unreal with these snaps. There's a haunting beauty about that hovering girl in pigtails by the water's edge, super good stuff man.

big thanks, Fsacto. yeah, it was really eerie under that smoke and the quality of light it created.

It always seems so ironic that the surf is always firing while the fires are burning. Never seen so much destruction from fire as the last 5 years.

R.T. said...

too true, Brownfish. too true.

Brilliant post. The photos unfold like a crazy sci-fi story.

R.T. said...

i don't think i've seen "the happening", i'll look into it.

big thanks, Chum. the true photos of the fires are an even crazier sci-fi:

Just discovered your blog. I actually surfed that same day. Those are the fires from Chino and Yorba Linda, right? The water looked like gold foil. I always wondered what surfing on Mars would be like. Amazing photos!!! Looks like you surf Bolsa often.
