Diggin' the compsand alaia. After all, we are not stuck in the past nor ancient Hawaiians. We learn from the past and update. Then when we get stagnant, we go back and see more of what we missed. It is all about fun now, is it not? side note/digression; (if we could only go back in time and stop the transition of surf into sport? This begs the Question....can surfers become outcasts again? nope. Except for the "Ex-Presidents")
fun... exactly. and experimentation. and an open mind... something a lot of surfers from the status quo side of things still don't have when it comes to riding waves on something other than the WCT norm. but there is hope... yesterday i watched a handful of sponsored shortboard groms look at the alaias on the beach and half of them express that they wanted to try it, and they did. they took to it quick. when one of them came in from his session i heard him ask someone on the beach the classic grom stoked question, "did you see that?!"
